Footfriend - Your First Appointment

What to expect on your first visit

Immediate relief

At your first appointment with a chiropodist / podiatrist at Footfriend you will be greeted by our friendly staff. They will make you feel relaxed and at ease. The initial consultation will usually last around 20 minutes. During this time we will take a medical history (please bring your prescription if you take medication). You will be given the opportunity to discuss your foot problems, after which we will carry out an examination. If it is a problem that can be dealt with immediately, treatment will commence straight away. Many people get relief from their foot problems in this first appointment. Sometimes it is necessary to get you back for further attention.

Dealing with bigger problems

Problems requiring nail surgery or orthoses (prescription insoles) will receive an initial assessment at this appointment where the treatment available is discussed with the chiropodist / podiatrist and a treatment plan is made that is tailored to your requirements. Treatment will commence at a follow up appointment, arranged at your convenience.

Advice

You will also be given advice about the care of your feet with regard to your presenting problem(s) and the future maintenance required if any.

Interpreters / Translations

People who do not speak or understand English are are welcome to bring a professional interpreter to their appointment. This will be at their own cost. Our experience is that a family or community member can adequately provide this service at no cost to the patient.

Isn’t it time you treated your feet?

“I have been a client with Damian for a number of years. I am a Type 2 Diabetic and visit every eight weeks, Damian takes very good care of my feet, and keeps me up to date with information on the care of my feet, including ill fitting shoes. I would recommend him to all of my friends.”
